Technology has given us wondrous inventions like the VCR, TiVo and DVR. For the people like me who don’t use a DVR to record their favorite television shows, missing “The Office” or “30 Rock” on Thursdays can be a real pain, chiefly because people like to ruin the shows before I get to catch them on reruns.
Luckily, many of the network shows that I adore but often miss (thanks JOB!) are available as streaming TV shows online. Watching movies on my laptop isn’t my idea of fun, as the screen is small and no one else can enjoy the show with you. Luckily, you can easily with discount HDMI cables, allowing you to stream the shows right to your big screen. Now I can get in on the water cooler talk about “How I Met Your Mother.”
In the last few years the Blu-Ray format of high definition DVDs triumphed over the HDVD and has now become the sole dominant high definition player on the market. Now is a great time to buy a Blu-Ray DVD player now that it’s clear which format will be used for the long term. Blu-Ray DVDs are just as advanced as the original DVDs were over the VHS format. In addition, more Blu-Ray DVDs are released every week, including both newer and older films, so there’s no danger of not have enough movies to watch. Soon DVDs will be viewed as older technology and you won’t even be able to find them in movie rental stores.
Blu-Ray players have also decreased in price from their original tag of about $500, and now can be purchased for around $100 in some circumstances. If you are going to invest in a Blu-Ray player, be sure to pick up a Monster HDMI cable, which will enhance you’re A/V experience even further.
Last weekend my friends and I decided to have a gaming party. We all brought our Xbox 360 consoles, and played multi-player games all weekend. The best part was my friend who hosted the party had a 1080i HDTV and an HDMI cable for his Xbox 360, so we played all weekend in full high definition, and the experience was amazing. We also watched a couple of Blu-Ray movies on his HDTV and both the sound and the picture quality were amazing. I liked his 1080i HDTV so much that I went out and bought one for myself the next weekend!
Now I can play Xbox 360 in gorgeous high definition, and also watch Blu-Ray DVDs in the comfort of my own home. I think I might even host the next gaming party!
